Lisa Su, senior vice president and general manager of global business units at AMD, said in an interview at the Computex trade show in Taiwan, "We are very committed to Windows 8; we think it's a great operating system, but we also see a market forAndroid and Chrome developing as well."
Su further added, ""I think Android and Chrome tend to be in the entry form factors—the tablets, the low-end clamshells,"
Windows market share is fast shrinking as Android and iOS powered devices are taking over the market. According to estimates Windows market share has come down to around 60% and if Windows phones or tablets don't find any market soon, the decline will continue. Microsoft is dragging along with it partners like AMD and Nokia and AMD's decision will only bring better products to the market. So it's good news for the market, Android, Chrome OS and the users.
AMD's arch rival Intel is already betting big on Android and Chrome OS. Now AMD's departure from Microsoft camp is bad news for Microsoft.
