How to Disable Advertisements on Skype?

Skype usually displays third-party advertisements on its desktop version in non-obtrusive manner on the calling window and home tab. Normally, Skype shares the demographic information of the users to its advertisers and based on that data, the advertisers can opt to display advertisements to appropriate audience. You can easily disable this feature and prevent Skype to share your profile information with advertisers.

Can we Remove Advertisements in Skype?

Yes, you can get rid of the advertisements in Skype if you’re having Skype credits or Skype subscription i.e., you need to be a premium member of Skype in order to hide ads from your Skype application.

Prevent Skype to Share your Profile Information to Show Ads:

Though you cannot remove ads in the free version, Skype lets you choose not to share your profile data for showing advertisements.
  1. Login to your Skype account and go to Tools > Options from the top menu.
  2. Click “Privacy Settings” tab on the left side.
  3. Uncheck the option “Allow Microsoft targeted ads, including use of Skype profile age and gender”.

  4. Click “Save” at the bottom.
That’s it! Skype will never use your profile data to display advertisements.

Note: This option is not available in older versions and so you need to upgrade to the latest version.
